Right Angle Prisms
Right Angle Prisms are the most used prisms. They are used to turn or deflect a beam through 90B or 180B. They are widely applied in place of mirrors involving severe acoustic or inertial loads, because it is easier to mount and deforms much less than a mirror in response to external mechanical stress.

Right-Angle Glass Prisms:
These prisms are made of glass of good quality. They have fine ground triangular faces and slightly beveled edges. They can serve as an efficient broadband reflector. If the hypotenuse face is antireflection coated, reflective efficiency is very high and is insensitive to orientation about axes normal to the plane of the page.

Right-Angle Fused Silica Prisms
They are made from UV grade synthetic fused silica. They combine the mounting and acoustic isolation advantage of a prism with the excellent transmission of this material. Because the index of synthetic fused silica is somewhat lower than that of BK 7, the critical angle for TIR is greater (thereby reducing the TIR field acceptance)
